C W Gortner writes that Juana and Phillip had extreme passion in their marriage right from the start, so he did not "rape" her. The problam was infidelity and jealousy, which caused some to think Juana was mad. In order to obtain the spainish crown Phillip and her father made out that she was mad and when her husband died her father ferdinand ruled in her stead. Keeping her locked up forever, while she suffered what is now known as Post partum depression. Brilliantly written. Loved it! I disagree with the review.
